Courses

eLearning courses give your business a scalable, cost-effective training solution. The right courses enable consistent employee skill development and support compliance training across teams.

For educators, these courses offer flexible teaching tools that accommodate diverse learning styles.

eLearning also allows for self-paced instruction and can be designed to include data-driven insights into learner progress.

Digital content can be updated quickly, while also delivering personalised learning experiences for audiences across the globe.

Here’s how tailored eLearning courses can help your teams and support your organisation meet health, safety, compliance and training standards.

Animation Course

Training the trainer, teaching animation skills to educators across Ireland

The background

We were asked by Kinia, an education-focused non-profit, charity and social enterprise based in Ireland, to design and develop an eLearning course to train educators.

The goal was to give them the digital skills to teach animation to young people, using the 5E instructional model (engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate). The course also needed to be agile and function as either a self-paced or instructor-led module, which also included a range of accessible, multimedia content.

The challenges

  • Building within an existing LMS – we had to develop distinct client-branded content within the client’s existing learning management system.

  • Designing in line with pedagogical models – the course had to follow the 5E model, which determined what type of content could be featured, and where.

  • Incorporating translation workflows – we were also tasked with managing the translation of all assets from English to Irish, this included voiceovers and multimedia content.

The solution

Initial planning was a vital part of this project. We drafted a complete storyboard following the 5E instructional model which had to incorporate several multimedia assets. This stage also included scripting the course, voiceover and video content.

Using the approved storyboard and scripts, we then built and tested the course for functionality within the LMS. During our development stage, we worked closely with a team at Kinia, integrating knowledge checker tools and quizzes to support pedagogical standards.

At the final stage, we added learner feedback forms and surveys for insight which could be used to scale and update the eLearning course at a later date.  We then delivered the complete course (translated into Irish) for distribution.

Gas Detection Course

Safety first – developing induction and refresher training for gas technicians

The background

We were tasked with creating an interactive safety course focusing on gas detection and equipment use.

The target audience was broad and we had to appeal to gas technicians at all stages in their career, from the newly onboarded to the experienced. This also meant it had to function as a self-paced and instructor-led course.

Our clients for this project were OBW Technologies, one of Ireland’s leading providers of portable and fixed gas detection sensors and solutions, and Technotraining, a leading technical training provider offering QQI-accredited courses and programmes across life safety, manufacturing, and construction sectors.

The challenges

  • Converting static guidance into interactive assets – the course was based on a printed gas detection handbook, so we had to be creative about converting that information into an interactive and dynamic course, without losing essential content.

  • Meeting compliance standards – we had to adhere to SCORM-compliance standards to verify that employees were finishing the course and passing crucial safety training.

  • Ensuring multi-level learning – we had to develop content suitable for new hires and established engineers, covering basic information as well as more advanced knowledge around safety procedures and gas calculations.

The solution

Working closely with an OBW technical team, we were able to combine their industry expertise with our design-led experience. Our collaboration ensured that modules targeted key learning goals suitable for established employees or those just starting out.

Modules featured a collection of dynamic multimedia content, a full technical glossary and formative and summative assessments to monitor and measure learning. For added confidence, we locked navigation for new users which meant our client could verify compliance to learning requirements.
